HENRY TIMROD, one of South Carolina's noblest, sons and sweetest poets, received  his collegiate education at the University of Georgia in the classic City of Athens.

JAMES MAURICE THOMPSON, at one time a lawyer of Calhoun, Georgia, wrote many fine stories and was a popular poetic contributor to several of the literary journals of our country.  He afterwards removed to Indiana.
