JOHN GRINDLE of DECATUR IS FOUND DEAD IN ALLEY NEAR HOTEL
Lodger Believed to Have Been Ill and Overcome by Dizziness When Near Window - Accidental, Says Jury.
John Grindle,
a resident of Decatur met almost instant death at about 3 o'clock yesterday morning when he fell from a fourth floor window at the Brunswick hotel in East Adams street.  Grindle had engaged a room early in the evening and retired about 11 o'clock.  Although no one about the hotel was apprised of the accident until late this morning, when the body was discovered by Michael Roberts, another lodger at the hostelry, it is believed that Grindle was ill when he retired and arose about 3 o'clock and went to the window, where he was overcome by a spell of dizziness and fell to the alley below.  Examination revealed the fact that both arms, both legs and several ribs were broken.  Death is believed to have been almost instantaneous.
A verdict of accidental death was returned yesterday by the coroner's jury.
The remains were removed to the undertaking establishment of Kirlin & Egan and probably will be sent to Decatur for interment.  Relatives of the decedent arrived in the city yesterday but funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
Grindle  was a native of England and was 39 years old.  He had resided in Decatur for some time and was employed as a coal miner in that city.

WABASH BOILER INSPECTOR NAMED
     J. J. Welk of Springfield has been appointed general boiler inspector for the Wabash and William W. Grindle of Decatur, one of the three district inspectors.  Both appointments are effective Jan. 1.  These men will inspect all locomotive and stationary boilers and also check federal and state boiler inspection record.  Mr. Welk, who has been boilermaker foreman for the Wabash at Springfield, will have general supervision over the work, with three district inspectors under him.
Mr. Grindle is to have supervision over the inspection work on the Decatur division.  He is at present boilermaker foreman for the Wabash at Decatur.  He will continue to hold this position, but the major part of the work will be done by Ellis W. Mitchell, who has been appointed assistant boilermaker foreman.
Two other district inspectors have not yet been appointed.  One will have supervision over all boilers on the Moberly division; the other over all boilers on the Peru and Detroit divisions.  Mr. Welk will look after the inspection on the Springfield division.
Within late years more and more attention has been paid by federal and state authorities to boiler inspection and reports are required monthly on the condition of all boilers.  These reports are rather exhaustive and it has therefore seemed best to the Wabash management to create a boiler inspection department.
