Three
brothers: Joseph, Adam and Thomas Yates,
natives of Ohio County, West Virginia, settled near
Wheeling. In 1847 they left Wheeling by flat boat and
came via Ohio, Mississippi and Illinois Rivers to Peoria,
Illinois. They settled together in the north east
corner of Radnor Twp., Peoria County.
There was a Yates family cemetery, but according to
reports the land where it was located was sold. The
living heirs gave consent to the purchaser to farm the
cemetery.----------
